The Weather Outside Is Frightful

Maybe you associate snowglobes with the holidays or souvenirs or your crazy aunt that collects them, but artists Walter Martin and Paloma Muñoz take them to a new place. The artist team create limited edition snowglobes with fantastical scenes of isolation, mystery, fear and loneliness. The series entitled 'Travelers' features scenes such as: two prisoners chained together and lost in a snowy wilderness, and a couple of hillbilly types throwing small children down a well (above, right). Their other work is also done in miniature, titled 'Islands', features more depressing and magical vignettes not contained within a globe.
