3...2...1...1...Happy New Year!

Just when you're like "this year can't end fast enough", they go and add another goddamn second onto the end of it. According to International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, or the IERS, the Earth's rotation has slowed down ever so slightly, thus demanding a whole second added to 2008. It's called a leap second. Aww, how cute.

But what if they didn't pull this leap second thing? Would that mean we'd be living a second in the past for the rest of our lives? Think of the evil one could do to an unsuspecting second-old populous.
